The Sutter County Agricultural Commissioners Office Presents: Kill The Bug Recycle The Jug

This program will allow agricultural producers an opportunity to recycle their properly prepared pesticide containers free of charge. There will be six Recycling Days throughout March, April, May, June, July, and August. Bring your properly prepared and sized containers to one of the listed destinations on the next Recycling Day.

  • April 26, 2007: Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Bear River Supply
  • June 8, 2007: Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - John Taylor Fertilizer

Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

Sutter County, California and the incorporated communities of Yuba City and Live Oak are developing a comprehensive Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to better position resources in addressing potential hazards before they occur and to maintain eligibility for mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

We’d like YOUR feedback regarding this important document, which must be approved by each City Council, the County Board of Supervisors, the State and FEMA this spring.

The deadline for public comment on the draft plan is April 19th.

Sutter County... Take the First Steps to Better Health!

In celebration of 2007 Public Health Week, April 2 - April 8, Sutter County Public Health will be having numerous events throughout the community.

Mobile Van Outreach Events
Free Blood Pressure, Glucose, Cholesterol checks and information on programs and services will be provided for the community. The mobile outreach events will be at the following locations:

April 2:   Wal-Mart Parking Lot - 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
April 3:   Hillcrest Catering Parking Lot on Julie Drive - 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
April 4:   Sam Brannan Park - 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Living Life to the Fullest

April 5:   A presentation, activity and cooking demonstration.
Yuba City Senior Center - 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Tobacco Education Scavenger Hunt for Youth

April 5:   Hosted by Sutter County Youth Tobacco Coalitions.
Yuba City Mall - 2:00 p.m.

Public Health Carnival
This fun-filled event will include Sutter County Public Health and many community agencies providing free services, information, healthy cooking, games, activities, and Child Behavior presentations for all ages.

April 7:   Sutter County Public Health - 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
School Readiness Mini-Grants Now Available

A new round of Mini-Grants is now available for Day Care Providers, Day Care Centers and Community Organizations. Applications  are available at 1527 Starr Drive, Suite O, Yuba City. Please call 822-7505 for additional information.

Paint the Earth Green
March 21, 2007
Community Memorial Museum Presents a new Children's Program, "Painting the Earth Green", on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:30 a.m. at 1333 Butte House Road in Yuba City.

Each child will learn about the important role trees play in the world as well as plant their own tree to take home with them. The special guest is Art Umland. Art was a forester with the National Forest Service and is recently retired.

Call the Museum at 822-7141 for reservations for the free program. Space is limited so reserve your child's place soon.
