Sutter County Employment Services is having a Job Fair on October 23, from 9:00 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. at Andros Karperos Middle School on Walton Avenue in Yuba City.
Note: there will be Pre-Job Fair Workshops offered prior
to the event itself.
The Sutter County Children & Families Commission has approved $60,000 in funding for
an Early Literacy Mini-Grant Request for Proposal. The Early Literacy Mini-Grant RFP will be
released on October 4, 2004 and Mini-Grant applications will be available on that date. The
deadline for application submission is November 5, 2004 at 5:00 p.m.

The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is asking the public to participate
in an online survey as part of the Blueprint Project. The results received from the
survey will be incorporated into public feedback about Blueprint. Specifically, SACOG wants
to learn about the public's response to the Draft Blueprint Preferred Scenario, SACOG's
proposed roadmap for the future. The Blueprint Scenario emphasizes moderate-density housing,
reinvestment in existing developed areas and a mix of land uses.

Free Health Screenings for Children & Adults in Yuba City

The Sutter County Children & Families Commission
Bright Futures program will be
holding two screenings in the month of October. One on Wednesday Oct 13th at the Yuba
City Mall Community Room and one on Saturday Oct 23 at the Migrant Headstart building
in Yuba City. The screenings are for all Sutter County Children newborn through age
five and are absolutely FREE. There is no cost, no income restrictions, and no insurance
requirements at all. Bright Futures is a fun way to learn about your child's
health and development.
All children participating at each event are entered in a drawing for a Leap Frog
educational toy and parents and children alike receive additional information and
participation gifts. At the Saturday October 23rd event the Sutter County Health
Department will have their health van on site and will be providing adult services.
"Sutter County is Cookin" was the theme for Sutter County's 2004 State Fair
Exhibit. Sutter County was one of the 12 out of 44 exhibits that received a First Place
"GOLD" Ribbon. Along with the Gold Ribbon, Sutter County was also awarded three
