Human Services are composed of those public funded efforts to prevent / contain
infectious disease, improve public health, evaluate and treat psychiatric disorders,
problems resulting from substance abuse and general medical problems. Services also
include those efforts required to determine eligibility for various public assistance
programs including WIC, Food Stamps, Medi-Cal, TANF as well as support necessary to
secure and maintain employment.

Prescription Drug Discount Cards
Sutter County has launched Drug Discount Card Programs to help consumers
cope with the high price of prescription drugs. The free prescription drug discount
cards offer an average savings of 20 percent off the retail
price of commonly prescribed drugs.
The cards may be used by all county residents, regardless of age, income, or existing
health coverage and are accepted at 15 of the County’s pharmacies.

Free Skin Cancer Prevention
The California Department of
Health Services
is offering free skin cancer prevention education
downloads to all
preschool and child care programs that serve children ages 3-5. The Free Skin Cancer Prevention
Education Package includes a curriculum, poster, video (DVD or VHS) and a sun safety sample
policy. The curriculum includes 20 activities for young children on the power of the sun and
how they can protect themselves from over exposure.

to design, develop and manage a comprehensive system-wide Compliance Program regarding
claiming of governmental funds paid for services and install explicit ethical standards
throughout the department.
This effort supports actions by the federal and state governments to guard against
waste, abuse and fraud in programs where governmental funds are received.
Sutter County develops and maintains programs that contain quality efforts provided by
caring staff who maintain high program integrity. We are committed to standards of

New single nationwide number for Poison Control
The
American Association of Poison Control Centers
has established a single number for
people to use to reach their local poison control center. The new number is
1-800-222-1222. When people call this number, a computer checks their area code
and first three digits of the phone number and connects the caller to their nearest
poison control center.
