Carl V. Adams is now serving in his eighth term as Sutter County’s District Attorney. He has been an attorney and trial lawyer for over 35 years, a criminal prosecutor for over 30 years and the elected District Attorney of Sutter County for 28 years, since 1982. Mr. Adams has been recently selected to serve as the President of the California District Attorney’s Association.
Mr. Adams has been an instructor for the California Department of Forestry and the State Fire Marshal’s Office as well as teaching numerous classes for both prosecutors and law enforcement. Mr. Adams also coached the Speech and Debate Team at Yuba City High School for 15 years and his students competed at the California State Championship Tournament each year that he was the coach as well as qualifying for the National Speech and Debate Tournament in 8 of the 15 years. He has been honored by the Yuba City Unified School Board on several occasions and in 1992 received the prestigious “Roger Kunde” Youth Service Award.
Carl Adams is President of the Family Intervention Team Foundation Board of Directors, Chairman of the NET-5 Advisory Council, Past President of the Yuba City Rotary Club, Past Master of Enterprise Masonic Lodge, Past President of the Board of Directors of Yuba-Sutter Friday Night Live, Past Chairman of the Sutter County Substance Abuse Steering Committee and has served on the Board of Directors of the Sutter-Yuba Youth Soccer League, the Sutter County Gang Intervention Task Force and served two terms as Chairman of the Buttes Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Carl Adams and his wife, Mary Carol, live in Yuba City. Mrs. Adams teaches fifth grade at Tierra Buena School. Their three daughters, Caryn, Cheryl and Cathryn, were all born here in Yuba City and attended Yuba City Unified schools. Carl and Mary Carol also have two grand-sons, Dexter, who is a year old, and Nathan, who was born last month.
