The Community Visioning Workshop will provide an opportunity
for residents to identify key planning issues impacting the
County, and help craft a vision for the future that will
serve as the basis for updating the General Plan's policies.
Fundamental to the preparation of the updated General Plan is a
shared Vision about what Sutter County should be in the future.
The Vision will emerge from the engagement of Sutter County
residents, business persons, and other key stakeholders that
reflect current community values, needs, and aspirations for
the future. It is anticipated that a series of Community
Visioning Workshops will occur in Spring 2008.

Vision Statement & Guiding Principals
Information from the Community Visioning Workshops will provide
direction for the development of Guiding Principles, the Land Use
Plan, and General Plan goals and policies. The Vision will articulate
values for each component of the updated General Plan: growth, land
use development, areas of preservation, community livability and
sustainability, economy, infrastructure and public services, environmental
resources, and community health and safety. The Vision will recognize
Sutter County's strengths and identify those elements that should
be set in place for their preservation. The Vision will represent
the "constitution" by which all updated plan goals, policies,
and programs will be measured.
The Guiding Principles will constitute a set of rules by which updated
plan policies will be written. They will guide the formulation of
growth and development plans, environmental conservation, provision
of infrastructure and services, and protection from environmental
and man-induced hazards.
