Todd Retzloff
The County Assessor is an elected official and
constitutional officer who is charged by law with
the responsibility of independent oversight and
preparation of the annual local property assessments,
from which property taxes are derived.
As of January 1 each year, the Assessor’s Office
locates, inventories and establishes values for all
taxable property within Sutter County. The laws
governing the assessment of property are included
in the State of California Revenue and Taxation Code
and they are complex, ever-changing and often
perplexing. All property within the county is classified
as either real or personal, state assessed or locally
assessed, and taxable or non-taxable. The Assessor
compiles this specific data into the assessment roll
which must be submitted annually to the Sutter County
Auditor-Controller prior to July 1.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to produce the annual property tax roll accurately
and equitably for all Sutter County taxpayers. We strive to provide
