The Department performs inspections at retail and wholesale establishments
that sell seed. Inspectors obtain product samples necessary for performing
germination and purity testing. Product labeling is also inspected for
compliance with state requirements. In association with the California Crop
Improvement Association, the Department provides seed certification services
to growers and processors.
